We just took a camping trip down to the Florida Keys. While planning the trip, I determined 2 stayover points to break up the 20+ hour trip. I researched the web, discovered "Bondocking" and mapped out my route. The Roanoke Rapids Wal-Mart was my first attempt. I called the store 3 weeks in advance and spoke with the store manager. She was very pleasant and expressed that we would be more than welcome. I plugged the address into my GPS.

We arrived at the store around 8 PM. I intended to park and go into the store to announce our arrival to the manager, and make sure of the location we would be allowed to park in. I didn't get the chance. A very nice gentleman who turned out to be security came over to my truck and greeted me. He was just as pleasant as could be. "Are you here to spend the night with us?" he questioned. He pointed out the area where we could park and told me to feel free to set up, specifically saying to put out our slides, put down the stabilizers and, if I wanted, disconnect if I wanted to drive about!

I repaid Wal-Mart by spending about $70 in the store that evening. This was pre-planned as well.
