ONSTAR inside my RV.
Or other "EMERGENCY SATELITE CALL BUTTON."
I have tried to rig this myself but to no avail. Read on.
I have a Duramax diesel and 5th wheel. Sometimes while traveling late at night and stopping at a less than desirable location, my cell phone has not had a signal. I find myself wanting to leave protection out near the bed. Not the best of situations but we live in a strange world these days. This got me wondering how I would get to my ONSTAR button inside my truck if I had bad people show up at my RV door. So, I attempted to rig my ONSTAR PANIC button inside my RV. ONSTAR will not work without the truck on. Even if I wanted to leave the truck on (engine off), the battery saving device will shut everything down very soon. I considered leaving the truck idling with key in ignition, doors locked and the key fob in my pocket. But I didn't want to risk someone getting into the truck and driving me off inside the trailer. My truck will stop shortly after a break-in but that doesn't do anythng for me. So I wanted to put this thought out there and with some luck perhaps ONSTAR or some genius brighter than I can come up with a way to POWER UP the truck and POWER ON ONSTAR in case of an emergency. Or sell me a panic button for my RV.
Hopefully this would never be needed but it would be a great peace of mind.
I retain the right to become very rich if this idea catches on....
Best Regards.
