Colorado Town Considers "Campground" in Park

City officials are asking for input on RV parking in Pioneer Park.

Sterling, Colorado (April 22, 2005) -- At a press briefing Thursday, City Manager Joe Kiolbasa said RV parking in the park is currently not allowed. But the city council wants input on whether they should allow it, and who would regulate it if the restrictions were lifted.

Kiolbasa says he did not envision any hook-ups would be added to the park. Pioneer Park used to allow RV camping in certain areas, but those areas were converted to other uses, Kiolbasa said.

There have been calls for the city to set aside an area for campers and RVs. Many other municipalities in Northeast Colorado have designated areas for them - the argument has been made that this could draw more visitors to Sterling.
