City ordinance in Morrow, GA, and other cities in same county; you cannot park in ANY parking lot within the city limits; (Yes, there are signs posted EVERYWHERE, even at the I-75 exit ramps) for large vehicles, including RV's and truck/trailers... only in Loading/Unloading zones while doing business OR designated parking... (they have ONE designated parking area at the Waffle House - next to the courthouse). I even had permission to park "on the side, out of the way" in the AMC Movie Theaters' parking lot while seeing a movie and got the ticket.. the issuing officer and the city manager both said that businesses Do Not have the power to override city ordinances and that parking for "any reason" like shopping at Wal Mart or to go into a resturant is against the city laws.. the officer (who was very polite, lol) said that the city even hires extra patrol officers specifically to watch vehicles exiting off of I-75 (just S of Atlanta ext 232) and targets any with "out of state" or even "out of county" tags.. they are instructed to "follow and watch" until said vehicle stops and the driver exits.. then ticket them.. no exceptions; when asked why they were so strict he just smiled and said that "it's how the city makes money" and went on to say that they had "alot" of other high dollar city ordinances like: not using a turn signal to change lanes = $800.. now is that abuse of power or what. At the appointed court date, the county prosicuter marked the ticket down to half/$206 but only if I pleaded guilty at that time and only at that time; at that court time I was only offered a choice of two types of "Guilty" one other for moving violations; if I wanted to plead "Not Guilty" I would have been issued a new court date in front of a jury "in a month or so" and if found guilty would have to pay the full $412.. (what I was told).. since I live 3 states away and had already made the 325 mile drive for this court date I elected to just pay the fine and then try to get the word out.. WARNING TO EVERYONE.. BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU!
